Leather industry

From raw hide receipt to a finished batch: grading, processing stages, the route sheet and quality costs.

The problem

Leather is not discrete manufacturing

Standard manufacturing models are built on discrete logic: one input, one output, a fixed norm. Leather is not like that - one raw hide becomes a variable area, then several grades and some rejects.

So the batch needs a model of its own: the input is measured in pieces, the output in square metres, and the grade can change at every stage.

How it works

The batch is the centre of the chain

A batch starts at raw hide receipt, passes through grading and moves along the processing stages. The route sheet records what was done at which stage.

The batch is linked to the standard production document rather than replacing it - so costing and stock movement stay in standard accounting, and the industry-specific part is built on top.

Quality costs are measured separately: rejects and grade drops become a figure and appear in the batch cost.

Questions

Most often asked

Does the system work without this module?

Yes. The industry package is optional - a company that does not install it never sees these menus.
