Laboratory
Test catalogue, samples and results - when a limit is breached the batch does not move to the next stage.
When the quality result stays on paper
A laboratory result is usually written in a separate log while the batch moves on in production - so at the moment of decision the result is not yet in the system.
For some tests this is not a drop in grade but the end of an export: when a critical measure is over the limit the goods cannot be sold.
Three models, one gate
The test catalogue holds what we measure and which limit is acceptable. The sample holds which batch it was taken from; the result holds the figure and whether it passed.
Critical tests are marked separately and act as a quality gate: without a result the batch is not released to the next stage.

Can we set the limits ourselves?
Yes - limits live in the test catalogue and are changed to the customer's own standard.
