Shop floor

A shop-floor screen for a tablet: three large buttons, a mandatory downtime reason and automatic time tracking.

The problem

A shop-floor worker will not fill in a full form

In competing setups the worker either uses paper or fills in a form designed for the office. Both end the same way: production time never reaches the system.

And paper is copied in the office in the evening - so the data is a day late and its errors can no longer be checked.

How it works

Built for a gloved hand

Large touch targets, three buttons - start, pause, finish - and nothing else. The screen runs on a tablet, on the floor itself.

The downtime reason must be chosen. That adds a step, but without it the reason for lost time is never known - there is a figure for "the machine stopped" but none for "why".

Time is tracked on its own, so efficiency reports work without extra effort.

Questions

Most often asked

What happens when the network drops?

The screen is deliberately simple and light; work continues once the connection returns. There is no need for a separate server on the floor.
